2008 Summer Musical Theatre Workshops
Children’s Alliance For Summer Theatre Workshop (CAST)
Ages 5 -15 years old
TADA presents a four-week intensive for students to experience musical theatre in a workshop setting. Participants will experience the joy of acting, singing, dancing and learn the basic elements of the theatre. The workshop will conclude with a musical performance of these wonderful shows.
Workshops include more than 50 hours of instruction and performance, a special show T-shirt, commemorative certificate, and 2 complimentary tickets per participant! Students will work with a Director, Musical Director and Choreographer each day as a part of a team, culminating in a full length children’s musical in a public performance.
Sleeping Beauty Kids (5-10 years old)
It’s Princess Aurora’s sixteenth birthday, and Flora, Fauna and Merryweather must use their fairy magic to save her from the spell of evil sorceress Maleficent! This classic fairy tale told Disney-style has many roles from King Stefan and Queen Stefanie’s Loyal Subjects to Maleficent’s slimy Goons. Everyone will want to sing and dance along to the classic “Once Upon a Dream” and fun new numbers like “Goon Conga” and “Let’s Have Some Magic Now.”Monday, June 16th- Friday, June 27th

Dear Edwina (7-15 years old)
Thirteen year-old Edwina Spoonapple would do just about anything to be a part of the Kalamazoo Advice-a-palooza Festival. While her siblings both have proof “up on the fridge” of their accomplishments, poor Edwina has nothing. When a talent scout from the convention visits her hometown of Paw Paw, Michigan, she trots out her musical advice giving shows live from the family garage in hopes of finding her place in the spotlight. She is assisted by her older siblings (on piano and drums) and a host of quirky friends and neighbors: Becky, the perky cheerleader; Kelli, the cool, sophisticated ballerina; Annie, the girl-scout cookie-selling champion; the Vanderploonk triplets; Bobby, the befuddled new kid on the block; and Scott, who is helplessly and hopelessly in love with Edwina. Together they set out to tackle the world’s problems, in number after hysterical number about everything from birthday party etiquette to the proper way to set a table (“salad fork, fork, plate, knife, spoon”).Monday, July 14 - Friday, August 1st

One Act Play Workshop (8-15 years old)
Come join us for an afternoon full of fun with a one act play workshop and learn basic elements of theatre! The workshop will consist of improvisation and discovery through one act plays! Students will learn how to be a character and perform in short skits and performances.Monday, July 14 - Friday, August 1st
